Monday, May 20th, Roadies from all over the Midwest gathered together to raise funds for Andy’s Outreach. Teams traveled from Polaris, OH Southbend, IN Elkhart, IN Willoughby, OH & Lou 1,KY to play against multiple teams from Fort Wayne, IN Clarksville, IN and Lima, OH. The combined 11 teams raised $1,600 for Andy’s Outreach!!!!!
Elkhart dominated with strong play throughout the day. Elkhart captain “Rikki” stood tall at the net. Team Polaris was a force to be reckoned with as well. Led by “Razzlesnake” the Polaris team made it all the way to the final. Their star “All Beef” was amazing. Clarksville brought the enthusiasm and energy to the entire event. Team Willoughby were the brightest team at the event blinding the opposition with Neon shirts and Roadie pride. It also seemed like team 74 from Lima, Ohio was everywhere. Every direction you looked someone wearing 74 was making a great play on the court. The teams from Fort Wayne were good sports and made great hosts for the tournament. South Bend looked like a team that had been playing together for years, making incredible sets and digging out balls that would flatten mere mortals. Thank you to Lou1 as well, we appreciate everyone who came to the tournament. We ended up having Roadies participate from four different Markets.
A big thank you to everyone who played and for all the hard work everyone at the stores put in to support their teams. There was a great group effort by Team Clarksville for selling peanuts for Andy’s Outreach. Other stores held fundraisers or sold candy to the staff. It was cool to hear some of the stories about the creative ways stores raised money for their teams.
It was incredible to see so many people compete together like family for Andy’s Outreach. It truly was fun…….with purpose!
It was great to watch the roadie’s demonstrate love across the courts. All the players treating each other as a family which made the tournament a success this year.
We hope to continue to put this event on each year, to make it a tradition.
