Dear Andy’s Outreach,
I am writing this email with so much appreciation, and not quite enough words to say. I left for work on Friday, January 31st, 2014 just like any normal day. I left at 1:40 to drop my boyfriend off at work and get to work on time. I got the call around 3:20 p.m. The call that my apartment was up in flames, and that I needed to come home. I had never been more devastated. I realized my animals were in my apartment that was now completely on fire. I had an 8 month old puppy named Holly, two 2 year old cats named Dexter and Adela, and one 6 month old cat named Conky. I knew they didn’t make it, but my heart didn’t want to believe it. When I got to my apartment they had already put out the fire and my apartment was just ashes and sot. What was left was charred from top to bottom. From what we’re told the fire started in our apartment, but the report states that the cause is undetermined. When we finally got to walk through our apartment, it was the saddest thing I’d ever been through in my life. Anything and everything that we had accumulated was gone. Not just couches and tables. Elementary school memories, pictures of loved ones passed, and inherited things gone in ashes. We weren’t nearly as saddened by the loss of our belongings as we were the loss of our animals. Beautiful, loving, amazing animals they were. Not 1 but all 4 in the blink of an eye. Some days the grief of that is overwhelming. But, it gets easier with the help of organizations like Andy’s Outreach coming to help us out to begin rebuilding the life that remains. I am so blessed to work for a company who cares for their employees so much they came up with the idea for this outreach program. If it weren’t for you guys my struggle to regain my life would be that much more difficult. There aren’t enough words to describe how thankful my boyfriend Rory and I am that you chose to help us out in such a time of need. It’s amazing what the help does for us. Thank you so much Andy’s Outreach I’ll never be able to express how amazing what you did for me is.
